S.NO 665. Channel ABP News, Zee News and India TV Complainant Mr. Arpit Bhutani, Advocate [200 complaints] Date of Broadcast 8.4.2012 to 18.4.2012 Complaint

The complaint was regarding programme telecast against Nirmal Baba on 3 channels. The complainant alleged that all scam rumours against him were rubbish.The complainant stated that he had approached NBSA as several complaints have been sent to the channels and he had not received any response.

NBSA noted the above complaint and also that the NBSA had received more than 200 complaints regarding programmes telecast by member channels on Nirmal Baba and decided that all these complaints would be considered along with the other complaints.

S.NO 666. Channel NA Complainant Mr Gulzar Ahmed Date of Broadcast Complaint

The complaint was regarding religious programs on news channels. The complainant alleged that the channels were showing programs based on religion, during morning, afternoon and evening time. He stated that this was not correct and viewers like him were very upset. Most of the times during the day ‘Dharam Guru’s’ program like “NIRMAL DARBAR” of Nirmal Baba, etc. was being shown on the channels.

NBSA noted that the had already been considered along with the complaint received from Mr. Anil Chamadia. Being conscious of the fact that certain matters challenging broadcast of programmes relating to Nirmal Baba and other similar persons are pending before various courts of law, the NBSA decided that since the matter is sub-judice, NBSA cannot proceed under its Regulations.

S.NO 667. Channel CNBC Awaaz Complainant Mr. Mohan Singh Date of Broadcast 9.5.2012 Complaint

The complaint was regarding regarding programme titled “Stock 20:20”. The complainant alleged that in the programme incorrect closing price of Ranbaxy was displayed.

NBSA considered the complaint and the response given by the broadcaster regarding incorrect share price of Ranbaxy displayed in the said programme. The NBSA decided that as stated in the reply, the broadcaster may be asked to submit a note on the systems that they have put in place to avoid such errors in the future The complaint was closed.

S.NO 668. Channel IBN 7 Complainant Mr. Jaspal Arora Date of Broadcast 14.4.2012 Complaint

The complaint was regarding regarding objectionable language used in speed news. The complainant alleged that in the news item the policeman was referred as “Sardar Police wala”.

NBSA noted that since the objectionable language was not used by the reporter of the channel but by the person aggrieved who was featured in the program; and since there was no further communication from the complainant after the broadcaster had sent its response, the NBSA did not consider it fit to proceed and directed that the matter be closed.

S.NO 669. Channel CNN IBN Complainant Mr. Anil Zankar Date of Broadcast 21.4.2012 Complaint

The complainant stated that the programme traced the growth of Indian cinema from Phalke's time and it was said in the commentary- "The only surviving print of Alam Ara was destroyed in the fire at NFAI in 2004." The complainant alleged that there never was any print of Alam Ara available in NFAI. NFAI was set up in 1960s and by that time there was no print of Alam Ara available anywhere. So, this was wrong information that was telecast through the programme. He demanded a clarification to be issued for public interest.

NBSA noted that the broadcaster on receipt of the complaint took action to make the required changes in the text so that all future telecasts of the episode did not mention that “the only surviving print of Alam Ara was destroyed in fire at NFAI”. In this view of the matter, the NBSA did not consider it fit to proceed further and directed that the matter be closed.

S.NO 670. Channel CNN IBN, *Zee News & Total TV Complainant Mr. Amit Kumar Prasad Date of Broadcast 20.4.2012 Complaint

The complaint was regarding results of MCD election in Delhi. The complainant stated that how the channels had telecast incorrect information of the results without any proof.

NBSA considered the complaints and the response and decided that no action needs to be taken in the matter as the matters complained of were clearly inadvertent errors which happens while reporting election results and there was evidently no mala fide on the part of the broadcasters while airing the said election results. The complaint was closed.
